Key findings and recommendations discussed with Advisory Board members and stakeholders

The second Advisory Board (AB) & Stakeholder meeting for the PANCOPOP project took place on 11th March 2024. Attendees included AB members, partner representatives and other stakeholders, and the project team. The primary focus of the meeting was to gather feedback on key findings and draft recommendations for public health officials, media regulators and policymakers, and journalists. The recommendations were aimed at enhancing the capacity of different stakeholders to engage in effective health crisis communication in the context of populist politics and misinformation.

The session started with brief presentations of key findings from each project strand. Subsequently, stakeholders, partners, and Advisory Board members provided valuable feedback, sharing comments on key findings and offering advice on sharpening the recommendations and enhancing their applicability across a range of domains. Both findings and recommendations were very well received, with several attendees expressing strong interest in their dissemination and application.

The meeting was attended by a diverse range of representatives – media regulators, journalistic organisations, public health authorities, and NGOs from multiple countries, including organisations such as the WHO, the European Broadcasting Union and the Chatham House, as well as several esteemed academic colleagues from around the world.

Over the coming months the team will draw on the insights shared during the meeting to finalize the report with recommendations. In the interim, we invite you to browse our About page for more information on the core aims and structure of the project and read more about our Advisory Board Members and Partners.
