First Advisory Board & Stakeholder Meeting!

The first virtual Advisory Board (AB) & Stakeholder meeting for the PANCOPOP project took place on 04 July 2022. Attended by a number of the AB members, Partner Representatives as well as the project team, the meeting focused on discussing the progress of and future plans for Strands 1 and 2. Strand 1 Health Crisis Communication, which maps government-led pandemic crisis communication processes in each country and examines how they were affected by populism was presented by Professor Daniel Hallin; and Professor Beata Klimkiewicz  presented Strand 2 Media Policy, which investigates the link between populism and media policies during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The main purpose of the meeting was to bring together representatives of key stakeholders from different countries to gather feedback and ideas that will advance the project on different levels ranging from methodological challenges to long-term goals. The meeting successfully provided a space for productive discussions where team members and invitees could share perspectives on how the project could achieve its full potential. Advisory Board members and Partner Representatives comprised a diverse panel of media regulators, journalistic organisations, and media NGOs from several countries beyond the areas of research focus. It was a great honour to host representatives from well-known European and Brazilian organisations such as the European Broadcasting Union and the Brazilian Federation of Scientific and Academic Associations of Communication, as well as several esteemed academic colleagues from around the world.

All feedback and comments will be discussed by the core team in due course and implemented where possible. In the meantime, we invite you to browse our About page for more information on the core aims and structure of the project and read more about our Advisory Board Members and Partners.
